Ministries / Senior Adult Ministry

The Senior Adult Ministry of FBC Mauldin offers support, Christian growth and fellowship to all senior adults.  Many opportunities and activities take place throughout the year, including the following . . .

 

♦ Bible Study Opportunities - The Nearly/Newly Retired and Senior Adult departments offer ladies' classes, men's classes and co-ed classes from which to choose.  These classes meet at 9:30 am Sunday mornings.

 

♦ Discipleship Opportunities - Opportunities for personal growth are offered through our PowerTrak program on Wednesday and Sunday evenings.  Classes may include a ladies' Bible study, Divorce Care, topical studies and prayer meeting.  The schedule varies for the fall, winter, spring and summer sessions.

 

♦ Conventions - Conventions are offered to our senior adults on the state and national level.  Each year a group travels together to the state convention.  The national convention is scheduled every few years.

 

♦ Mission Opportunities - One of our goals is to reach lost people, wherever they are, whatever it takes and to share Jesus through mssions, using the Acts 1:8 strategy.  Many of our senior adults are involved in many missions that serve others including the following . . .

     • Women on Mission - Groups meet at various times during the month for the convenience of those involved.  Members participate in many local and state mission projects.

     • Men's Ministry - Men meet on the 4th Sunday morning of each month for a fellowship breakfast and a variety of programs.  Bible study and civic and government issues are some of the topics covered.  Men volunteer in many ministry opportunities, both locally and statewide.

     • Homebound Ministry - Some church members are unable to attend worship.  Tapes/DVDs of the worship services are made available and delivered by church members, including some senior adults.  This is a very important part of our senior adult ministry.

     • Crisis Ministry of Golden Strip Relief Center - Several of our senior adults volunteer to help with this ministry in our community.

 

♦ Music Opportunities - Exaltation Choir meets on Mondays at 10 am for rehearsal.  This choir sings for the 8:15 am Sunday service.  Anyone who loves music and singing is encouraged to attend.  You are also welcome to sing in the Celebration Choir which sings at the 10:45 am Sunday service and to participate in the instrumental ensemble which plays for both Sunday morning services.

 

♦ Sonshine Fellowship - Meets monthly for food, fellowship and programs of interest to senior adults.  Everyone brings food to share ("covered dish") and the meat is provided. From October through April, meetings are held the 1st Tuesday morning of the month at 10:30 am.  From May through September the meetings are held the 1st Tuesday evening of the month at 6:00 pm. 

 

♦ Touch Point - Touch Point is our outreach ministry.  The main focus is to share the love of Jesus with our community and help people find a relationship with God and with others.

 

♦ Travel - The Senior Adult travel committee offers many opportunities to experience the attractions and cuisine of the area.  Trips of one day and/or more are scheduled on a regular basis.  All senior adults are encouraged to participate.
