Missions / Outreach - MISSIONS
We are Mauldin . . . We are Missionaries . . .
Mission opportunities are all around us. Not far from our door step there are completely different cultures and needs. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in oursleves that we forget to see the broader picture in serving Christ. Acts 1:8 did not say choose only one area to serve, but implied that a life of service would travel or see the needs beyond ourselves to people that are not familiar to us. Where do YOU fit into the Great Commission?
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8
Mauldin
Our "Jerusalem" is Mauldin and the surrounding areas. Shaing our faith begins at home with our family and friends, but there is also a variety of opportunities right here that you can become involved with on a regular basis or for a single event. Being involved in the local community will help you grow deeper in your discipleship relationship to Christ as you learn to lean on him for direction. To begin, you may look for a place to volunteer that is in your field of interest or skill, later you may look for a place that will stretch you out of your comfort zone and challenge you to grow, but most of all ask the question, "God where do YOU want me to serve You by serving others?"
South Carolina
Our "Judea" is South Carolina and is referred to as Regional Missions. Acts 1:8 did not say choose only one area to serve, but implied that a life of service would travel to see the needs beyond ourselves to people that are not familiar to us. The early apostles all eventually left Jerusalem to spread the Gospel into the areas around them. Regional mission projects are short term, usually anywhere from a week to just a couple of days. The travel is minimum and can be done quickly by groups or individuals who have a mission to serve away from home.
North America
Our "Samaria" is North America and will be referred to as National Missions. These mission projects look farther beyond our regional area to locations in North America. They are typically short term, such as a week or the length of a vacation break and inolve a longer road trip to a differrent state to meet a specific need or request that we have witnessed and feel called to respond to by sending help in the way of people, resources, finances and more. Natural disasters break our hearts as Christians and cause us to rise up in a response to help. But others may feel the call to specific people or places that God has revealed to them a need to evangelize, to train or to go!
The World
Our "Ends of the World" is International Missions. "Go unto the uttermost parts of the earth and lo I am with you always." God's desire is for every tribe, tongue and people group to know him as Lord and Savior. His command is to go and serve even those that are not convenient to reach. With today's modern transportation all people can be reached, but there are not enough people willing to sacrifice what it takes to take the Gospel to those places. For hundreds of people groups in the world the issue is access, they have no access to a missionary, no access to a Bible, much less in their own language, and no church with which to study the Bible, learn about Jesus or worship God. Please consider completing the task of the Great Commission by being globablly minded even if you need to leave home.
